We are the data controller for this site and are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under number ZC010118. The short version
There are no accounts, no sign-up and no forms. We set no cookies. We do not sell data, show advertising or use tracking for advertising. Our analytics count visits without identifying anyone.
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics to understand which pages are read. Plausible sets no cookies and collects no personal data: it counts page views, referring sites, country and device type in aggregate, and does not follow you across sites. Plausible is hosted in the European Union.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare processes limited technical information such as your IP address and browser type, under its own privacy policy.
In your browser
If you switch an article between general and specialist reading, your browser remembers the choice in its local storage. It is not a cookie, it is never sent to us, and you can clear it in your browser's settings.
If you email us
If you write to [email protected] or [email protected], we use your message and address only to reply and, for a correction, to investigate it. We keep correspondence about a correction for as long as the correction is part of the public record, so that what changed and why can be explained; other messages we delete when they are dealt with.
Your rights
You can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it.
